Survival Log Hospital and Used Car Lot
Buy the car before the sirens, then treat the hospital as a wing-by-wing thesis.
The full Survival Log map is larger than the demo’s supermarket-and-school postcard. Official launch copy promised a used car lot before disaster and sprawling post-disaster maps such as the abandoned school and deserted hospital. Launch-week patches then had to make those maps walkable: August 14 fixed hospital objects that looked impassable, August 15 marked overrun exploration points on the Map, and both days repaired supermarket stuck spots plus the warehouse-manager home. This page is the route guide for the car lot, the hospital, and the warehouse home — three places that punish tourists and reward a written thesis.
Read Exploration Sites for Ruined Supermarket and Abandoned School first. Read City Locations for the pre-disaster shop circuit. Read Exploration Risk before you treat a new icon as mandatory. This page assumes those habits exist.
Used car lot — buy mobility before the outbreak
The used car lot is a pre-disaster stop. Official release notes list it beside the farmers’ market and renovation store as a place to stock up before streets become a war zone. A car is not a personality. It is a trunk. August 13 lets you switch to the Trunk tab in the backpack after you own a car, so you can store and retrieve without walking to the vehicle. Store shopping-cart UI now reminds you that items in the car do not count toward Broad Shoulders. August 14 makes “Finish Preparation” or a ended countdown unload the car at the entrance instead of leaving bags in limbo.
Buy the car only after Priority Checklist Tier 0 is honest. A pretty hatchback with empty water rows is a mobile failure. Use the lot on a shopping day that already includes Farmers Market and Renovation Store if those tiers are open — do not add a fourth stop because the lot looks cinematic. Day Planner should show “car + water + home,” not “tour every new icon.”
Once you have a trunk, treat it as overflow for boards, fuel, and bulk food — not as a junk attic. Warehouse Clerk players should label the trunk the same way they label shelves. If a story item needs to return Home for a mission, do not leave it in the trunk or the entrance cardboard box; August 14 made detection more lenient, but the clean habit is still “mission item on the named furniture.”
Deserted hospital — interactable, dark, not a loot piñata
The hospital is a post-disaster site. August 14 fixed objects that could not be interacted with and displayed as impassable. If you bounced off a door in the first two days, go back after the patch with a narrower thesis: medicine, disinfectant, or a named story item — not “clear the ward.” Darkness and stamina taxes still apply. Bring the same flashlight discipline you use in the Ruined Supermarket (Exploration Sites).
Hospital runs pair with Crafting and Workbench because disinfectant and medical leftovers often want a bench or a spray, not a trophy shelf. They pair with How to Rescue a Neighbor when a clue points at medical supplies. They do not pair with a red crisis bar. August 15 shows overrun points clearly on the Map when hordes occupy an exploration site. If the hospital icon is overrun, it is not a shopping trip. It is a “come back tomorrow” note.
Split the hospital the way you split the Abandoned School: one wing, one bag rule, one retreat trigger. How to Explore still wins arguments with greed. Snow and cold make the same hallway cost more stamina — Weather and Cold.
Warehouse manager home — two rooms and an entrance
The warehouse-manager home is a story map with two warehouse areas plus an entrance. August 15 fixed movement between those areas and entrance access, plus slot positions, collision, and furniture clipping. August 14 added lighting in rooms that were too dark. If your save still cannot cross from one warehouse to the other, load after the patch before you scrap the run.
This site is not a second supermarket. It exists for the crowbar-to-truck rescue chain described on Trading and Neighbors and Warehouse Clerk. Bring the Crowbar thesis, retrieve the special truck items, leave. Loot that blocks the return path is how you fail a story beat you already unlocked.
Overrun marks and camera stay
August 15 keeps the exploration camera where you dragged it instead of yanking back to the character; Space still recenters. Use that to peek a hospital corridor without walking into it. The same patch marks overrun points on the Map. Combine both: scan, read the mark, decide. Do not discover overrun by standing in it.
Supermarket stuck spots were patched on August 13, 14, and 15. If you still wedge in a pre-disaster aisle, that is feedback-form material, not a secret technique.
Route card for these three sites
- Pre-disaster: car lot after water and boards, trunk loaded, home before dusk.
- Early post-disaster: school wing or supermarket remnant, not hospital, unless a story item names it.
- Mid post-disaster: hospital wing with disinfectant thesis, abort if overrun.
- Story day: warehouse home only, Crowbar and truck, no side loot.
The city grew at launch. Your circuit should not grow faster than your buffers. New icons are invitations, not obligations. Map Hub stays the index; this page is the three-site addendum the demo never had to write.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common survivor questions.
When should I visit the used car lot?
During the pre-disaster clock, after Tier 0 water and boards are real. The trunk is overflow storage; car goods do not count toward Broad Shoulders.
Why could I not interact with hospital objects at launch?
August 14 fixed impassable or non-interactable hospital objects. Reload after that patch and enter with a one-wing thesis.
What does an overrun mark on the Map mean?
August 15 marks exploration points occupied by hordes. Skip the site until the mark clears. It is not a brave extra chest.
I cannot walk between the two warehouse rooms.
August 15 fixed movement and entrance access in the warehouse-manager home. Load the patched build before you abandon the rescue story.
Does the car unload when preparation ends?
August 14 unloads car supplies at the entrance when you click Finish Preparation outside or when the countdown ends and you return Home.
