Launch Week Patches

Survival Log shipped on Steam on August 12, 2026. The next three days were not quiet. Midnight Workshop posted official Update Announcement notes on August 13, 14, and 15 that fix softlocks, add quality-of-life, and quietly change how you should spend a Planning Points day. This page is the launch-week changelog in wiki language: what actually changed, which old habits are now wrong, and which sibling pages to re-open after you load a save.

Treat this as a verification syllabus, not a hype recap. After any of these builds, run one short day: cook, check power, board once, walk the home circuit, sleep. Then reopen the system the patch touched. Launch Day still covers first-week routes and pricing. Demo Update still covers training-loop hygiene. This page owns the August 13–15 notes.

August 13 — keys, transfers, and finding stuff at home

Custom key binding landed in Settings. Most operation keys can be rebound, and Reset restores defaults. That makes Hotkeys a process page again: photograph your binds after the patch, then dry-fire map, cook, and one trap reset before a city loop.

Right-click quick transfer now works in Inventory, Trading, Cooking Station, Fermentation Barrel, Generator, Workbench, and Mouse Cage — the same job Shift+Click already did. Practice it on a calm morning so dusk transfers stop eating stamina.

Resource Scavenging is the post-disaster search rail on the right of the home interface. Pick a category, or “Requires Fridge” / “Sundries”, and the game marks which furniture holds those items. Press Z to hide the rail. Pair it with Loot Spotter thinking: pre-disaster gaps versus post-disaster “where did I put the disinfectant.”

Pause on 4 now shows a notification bar. E after clicking an interactable searches and opens inventory; E again picks up all. Neighbor gifts got broader (Books, Sundries, Tools). Mold spreads slower inside the same container; disinfectant spray covers more area and can clean moldy food directly. The first cold wave now ramps from moderate to severe instead of slamming you — still read Weather and Cold.

Basement repairs dropped from three required fixes to two, and you can start earlier, with clearer completion feedback. Front Door / Fix Door reinforcement tasks are no longer time-limited. Large ingredients cut with a single click. After you buy a car, the Trunk tab in the backpack stores and retrieves without walking to the vehicle; store carts remind you that car storage does not count toward Broad Shoulders. Rescue of a trapped warehouse manager no longer restricts outgoing supply types, and the drone can return a thank-you gift.

Stability notes from the same day: map freeze while switching maps, respawn confirm hangs, Rescue Beacon quest progress restore, and 0x-pause command loss. Integrated graphics default to a 30 FPS lock if you never set a frame rate; Intel Arc iGPU is no longer misread as a dedicated card.

August 14 — rescue guidance, cabinets, and New Game+

The warehouse manager rescue storyline now has narrative missions from crafting a Crowbar through retrieving special items from the truck. If you lost clues earlier, How to Rescue a Neighbor and Warehouse Clerk are the practical pages; this patch is why those pages no longer treat the rescue as a rumor.

New Planning Cards: farming gets Deep Cultivation (longer grow time, higher yield) — see Farming. The drone path gets a Scavenging card that increases daily scavenging dispatch attempts. The Endurance Drone card description was corrected: it increases daily trading quotas, not whatever players inferred from the old text. Read that against How to Drone Trade.

The Tool Cabinet is new storage furniture: buy it or craft it, 80 slots, and you can open it from the Workbench to pull materials. That is the spine of Crafting and Workbench.

Character unlocks: if you never finished unlock tasks, completing any ending also unlocks the next available character. In New Game+ and later cycles, second floor, basement, and trap unlocks move up and include narrative memories — details live on New Game Plus.

Softlock fixes matter if you play messy: key items in the trunk or entrance cardboard box no longer brick mission detection; disaster cutscenes should not black-screen hang; supermarket stuck spots were patched; emptied shopping bags now despawn and respond; “Finish Preparation” or a ended countdown unloads the car at the entrance.

Sleep now fully restores stamina even when Max Stamina is trained high. First-time recipe proficiency scales with cook duration; Lv1 to Lv2 is easier, and reaching Lv2 notifies you that direct Refrigerator access is unlocked. Bulk food trade value went up. Neighbor return quantities lost an extra cap. Cooking wine is no longer burned as fuel. Fuel pulled from a fuel slot keeps its form and no longer vanishes when inventory is full. Respawn notes restore most proficiency, add missing defense notes, and weigh less so they fit a backpack. Endless Mode now applies more than the first level of starting attribute points and stops showing cycle-misleading UI. Seeds no longer purchase into a negative balance. Horde rewards no longer hand out the test item “Book.”

Interface: recipe hover shows output name, description, weight, and slot needs; locked recipes show why they are locked. Rat trap food tooltip now says it only accepts food with a Satiety value. Plant Light in the basement was renamed Daylight Lamp. High frame-rate settings warn before apply. Hospital objects that looked impassable were made interactable — see Hospital and Used Car Lot.

August 15 — crisis bar, relaxed speed, and unlock repairs

Large-scale horde warnings now fire earlier. The crisis bar on the main interface permanently shows time remaining and turns red as the attack nears. That is the new dusk thesis for How to Defend: if the bar is red, you are not shopping.

Auto Slow-Down sits at the leftmost speed control. Idle characters drop to “Relaxed”; issuing a command returns to normal speed. Default hotkey is ~ (rebindable). Click another speed setting to exit.

Cell Phone silent mode: ring/vibrate toggle at the top of the messaging interface. Vibrate plays from the phone’s location instead of a ring.

A batch of actions can now be canceled mid-way — bathing, washing hands, watering, prying open, starting generators, examining. Stamina is not deducted on cancel; it is charged on completion. That single change makes Smart Actions less punishing when you mis-click a long chore.

Exploration camera: after you drag the view to a distant area, it stays put while the character moves; Space still snaps back to the character.

Workbench manuals: if you lose the manual, day 6 onward offers a path to figure out the repair yourself. Trading points that already showed “Completed” but stayed locked now unlock on load (old saves included). Warehouse manager rescue adds another way to find later clues if you dropped the trail. Endless Mode recipes that had no unlock path — Rat Trap, Reinforced Components, Vase, Brewing Barrel, Disinfectant Spray — craft normally on new endless saves. Overrun exploration points are marked on the Map. Mental Block should no longer roll on new endless saves.

Packaging returns leftover materials from brewing, rat-cage feeding, trap bait, and fuel depletion. Tool cabinet model/icon was corrected. Brewing barrel tells you how much more Satiety you need to hit the brew line. Warehouse Manager home movement between the two warehouse areas and the entrance was fixed. A supermarket pre-disaster stuck spot was fixed.

What to re-test after you update

  1. Settings binds, right-click transfer, Z scavenging rail, ~ Relaxed speed — Controls Hub.
  2. Tool Cabinet beside the Workbench and one lost-manual plan — Crafting and Workbench.
  3. Trading point that already said Completed — Trading and Neighbors.
  4. Crisis bar plus one boarded night — How to Defend.
  5. Warehouse manager crowbar-to-truck beat if that story is open — Warehouse Clerk.
  6. NG+ floor/trap timing if you already finished an ending — New Game Plus.

Official notes still ask for leftover bugs through the developer feedback form. This wiki will not invent a fourth patch. When Steam posts another announcement, start here, then walk the matching system page, then play a short verification day.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common survivor questions.

Which launch-week patch should I care about first?

August 15 if you defend hordes or cancel long chores. August 14 if you are stuck on warehouse-manager rescue, Tool Cabinet, or New Game+. August 13 if your binds, transfers, or home search still feel like the demo.

Do old saves get the trading-point unlock fix?

Yes. The August 15 note says old saves update automatically when you load if the interface already showed Completed.

I lost the Workbench manual. Am I locked out?

From day 6 the August 15 patch adds a self-repair path. New endless saves also restore missing recipe unlocks such as Rat Trap and Brewing Barrel.

Does canceling a bath or generator start still cost stamina?

No. August 15 charges stamina only when the action completes.

Where do I go after reading this changelog?

Run one verification day, then open Crafting and Workbench, Trading and Neighbors, or How to Defend depending on which note touched your last wipe.
